My journey in education have had its ups and downs...with many no’s, not yet, and we have decided to go with another candidate. Making mistakes from a result of being overwhelmed, frustrated, and tired. There have been times I wanted to give up and give in. There were moments that put me in a space of uneasiness and hopelessness. I knew that despite all that I went through, I had to rise up. I used every difficult situation I have ever experienced as fuel that lit fire for me to succeed. I learned how to fail forward. In those moments I was able to dip myself in some glitter and sparkle through it.
My journey unleashed the magic that soon became a glitter trail for others to follow. I share my story of my struggles with others because it’s important for them to know the journey. Everything that I have, it was through hard work and dedication. I used my struggles as stepping stones to reach my goals. It was not always easy, but looking back it was definitely worth it. The magic in us that builds who we are is created through our life experiences. Those experiences we face creates opportunities for growth and helps us help others.
We all have a journey and we can unleash the magic in our students when we realize the power we received from our journey. Becoming a unicorn educator begins with you knowing your truth. It’s essential to begin here because it’s the foundation for how you teach and lead. It is your journey that helps create your magic. It is your journey that defines the person you are and gives you the ability to reach others. Despite your journey, someone can benefit for your experiences and rise up.
Every unicorn is different with different magical powers. There are so many different My Little Pony characters, all with different magical powers. I believe students are purposefully placed in our presence because they require our specific power from us to reach their goals. It’s important that we are intentionally unleashing our students’ potential. Your students are in your classroom not by accident, but because they need you. They need your magic to to sparkle and shine.
So come follow me on this glitter trail, unleash your magic for your students and become a UNICORN educator for your students. We all have a little magic and sparkle within us that will help us shine and blaze a glitter trail for our students.
